Registration starts on Monday September 28 for youth programs starting in October.
Programs this fall include fitnes club, friday night live, youth council, basketball, and more. We are starting with a limited schedule and hope to add more as the season goes along. If you have a program request please email our Programming Staff or call the front desk at 604-257-8195.
The safety of our patrons and our staff is our top priority, and we are committed to offering a safe recreation experience. We’re having fun and keeping it safe. #RestartSmartVancouver ⠀
Fall Youth Programs
- ● Due to limited spaces and the popularity of our Friday night programs, registration for Friday Night Live and Youth Space will be opened 3 days prior to the program start date and registration for each session will be available weekly rather than seasonally.
- ● Drop-In is allowed for select programs. Participants must still register at the front desk and will only be available if there is space. We recommend calling ahead to register with the front desk as full programs will mean any unregistered participants will unfortunately be turned away.
- ● WaterWorks Café, vending machines and phone chargers are currently unavailable.
- ● With our new implemented safety procedures, Youth must be dropped off at the centre entrance and can be picked up at the outdoor exit of the room their program takes place in (Lind, Tyee, Mini Gym).
- ● If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Youth Office for more information at 604-257-8155.
Rain or Shine Youth Photography Club
Calling all photography fans! Whether it’s with a digital camera, a cellphone, a polaroid camera, a disposable camera, let’s use our beautiful surroundings to inspire us. Bring your camera of choice along as the club will have weekly themes or skills to inspire our photo walks, rain or shine! If you would like to partake but do not have access to a camera, please contact the Youth Office. This program will take place partially outdoors rain or shine so please dress weather appropriate with closed-toe shoes!
#Fitness for Youth Club
Do you love trying out the latest dance and physical activity challenges on social media? This is a non-instructional group where the focus is on having fun while we keep our bodies moving. While being supervised by the Youth Leader, participants will have the ability to suggest dances and moves they’ve seen online for us to practice as a group. Other than a screen for us to follow along to, no equipment is required! Open to all skill sets! Please wear activity appropriate attire and shoes.
Pre-Teen & Youth Basketball
As the rainy season rolls in, we’re here to offer youth a space to keep shooting for the stars! Sign up for a 30-minute session where each participant will be assigned their own basket to practice their shooting skills. Only 3 participants are allowed per session so it’s practically a whole gym to yourself! Participants are encouraged to bring their own basketball and to limit the amount of belongings they bring with them. Open to all skill sets! This program is non-instructional.
Friday Night Live
Our most popular program is back (with some new policies to keep us safe)! Come join us each week for socially distanced in-centre games and activities. Registration is now required and available 3 days prior to the program start date as we want to ensure fair access with our smaller program size.
Looking for somewhere to hang out and just talk with your friends on Friday Nights? With our centre closed to casual drop-in, Youth Space allows for youth to sign up for 45 minute “hang out” sessions where they can meet with friends in a place with safety measures. Youth Space will be supervised by a Youth Staff who will ensure our new implemented policies and procedures are practiced. This includes social distanced seating, proper flow of traffic, designated entrance and exits, limited spaces per session and disinfecting/cleaning of equipment between sessions.
Environmental Youth Crew
The False Creek Community knows how beautiful of a city we live in and it is everyone’s job to ensure a sustainable future. Join the Environmental Youth Crew as we meet every Saturday morning for a community garbage clean-up. This program will take place outdoors rain or shine so please dress weather appropriate with closed-toe shoes! Any necessary materials will be supplied. There’s no more scenic way of giving back to Mother Nature while earning volunteering hours.
Junior & Senior Youth Council
Great communities are built with input from all! Come join this leadership group to give back to our False Creek neighborhood while gaining leadership skills and connecting with new people. Help plan activities for other youth and implement your own community projects. Participation will be through in-person socially distanced settings but please contact the Youth Office if you would be interested in joining the council virtually. Look no further for a fun way to achieve volunteer hours!
