We are looking for SUP (Stand-up Paddleboard) Instructors
The False Creek Community Centre offers a variety of water activities/programs to the public in the heart of Vancouver on False Creek and in English Bay.
Job Summary
You will be responsible for teaching or guiding SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard) at Beginner or Intermediate level. You will possess the ability to teach in a relaxed, clear and confident manner to a variety of participants and demographics. As well as having strong communication, decision making, logistical, and organizational skills. You have the ability to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly in case of an emergency. This is a casual position and flexibility is required. Program times are typically during weekday evenings and weekends. Hours of work per week are dependent on the waterfront program schedule and registration numbers.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
• Understand and consistently perform all responsibilities associated with our safety protocols and program procedures
• Confirm all equipment used is in appropriate working condition
• Lead and motivate participants with a high level of enthusiasm and a positive attitude
• Time management
Qualifications
• Experience leading and teaching groups of a wide variety of ages in recreational programs
• Current certification as RCABC Level 1 SUP Instructor or Paddle Canada Basic SUP Instructor or equivalent
• Extensive paddling experience, especially in False Creek and English Bay
• Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C & AED
Compensation: $23-$25 / hour, depending on qualifications and experience
