Welcome to Spring
The last twelve months have challenged us all to adjust and adapt to a new reality, defined by face masks, continually changing health regulations, and mandatory vaccinations. While it can be scary, it is also an opportunity to unify our community around a traumatic experience that we all mutually share. We are resilient, we are adaptable, and we have persevered by leaning on each other at the time we need it the most. The False Creek Community Centre is a place of learning, of exercise, and of entertainment. But it is also the epicenter of a community just starting to come to terms with how capable it truly is. We are a community in change. As we look to the future, we must not forget the lessons we have learned as we digest both our past and the unfolding events of our present.
As the days get longer and the sun comes out to play, we hope you will join us at our exciting outdoor events put on by our fabulous staff and volunteers. Our famous O Canada Day! celebration is fun for all ages and offers live entertainment, family activities, art, and mouthwatering food for the whole family. We invite you to come and embrace the rich tapestry of our diverse multicultural nation with us. The Granville Island Waterpark opens from Victoria Day long weekend to Labour Day, so grab your bathing suit and have a splash at the largest free waterpark in North America. Our licensed day camps combine exciting trips, sports, games and other events for the next generation of leaders in our community – so be sure to sign up soon, as space is limited!
The False Creek Community Association is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the commitment and effort of its volunteers. At our Annual General Meeting in May, our Board for 2022 – 2023 will be elected. This group will continue to build on the progress that we have made over the last 12 months, learning from the present to set the stage for an even brighter future for our community. If you are interested in serving your community, please consider joining a committee or running for the Board. We happily welcome all inquires at our front desk or by email to fccavancouver@gmail.com.
I am looking forward to seeing you at the False Creek Community Centre and learning from each other as we persevere through the next 12 months
Liam Menard, President False Creek Community Association
