Are you a dynamic people person with a passion for kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding? Are you organized, innovative and a collaborative leader? We are looking for a part time Waterfront Coordinator to staff, plan, market and deliver introductory kayak/canoe/SUP lessons and programs.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Recreation Programmer, the Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for the management of extensive waterfront programs. The Waterfront Coordinator has the following duties and responsibilities:
- -Scheduling the waterfront programs/services: kayak, canoe, and SUP lessons, daytrips and the kayak, canoe, and SUP club
- -Assisting the Programmer with the hiring of additional qualified kayak/canoe/SUP instructors
- -Conducting training sessions for the waterfront kayak/canoe/SUP instructors and other programs
- -Developing and marketing the waterfront programs
- -Performing administrative duties: inventory, waivers, booking pool space, etc
- -Performing regular boat and equipment maintenance
- -Preparing staff and program evaluations as well as program reports
- -Managing a budget
- -Instructing some of the waterfront courses
Qualifications:
- -Certification in either RCABC – Flatwater Canoeing Instructor combined with extensive personal kayaking experience OR Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking Instructor or Level 1 Kayak Instructor OR Sea Kayak Day or Assistant Guide (SKGABC, ASKG or CFOKE certification)
- -Paddle Canada Certification – Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Instructor Advanced Flatwater
- -Current Emergency First Aid and CPR/AED
- -Class 4 BC driver’s license an asset
- -Current NLS certification an asset
- -Strong communication skills
- -Experience in staff leadership
- -Experience in recreational program planning and marketing
- -Proficiency in word processing programs
- -The successful applicant will also be a personable, patient, and effective teacher
Remuneration:
$26.00/hour + 4% vacation
(Average of 6.25 hours/week throughout the year. April-September is peak season)
