I am delighted to welcome you to the False Creek Community Centre and grateful and honoured to represent the community centre and work alongside a dedicated, passionate and engaged group of individuals. Our community centre is a hub of activity and a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and connect. I encourage you to take full advantage of all that our centre has to offer and get involved in the life of our community. Whether you are a frequent visitor to the community centre or new, I hope you find a sense of belonging and purpose here.

After a successful and enjoyable winter here at False Creek Community Centre, we are excited to welcome back the longer and brighter days! Our bouncy castle is back up and running at our Parent and Tot Gym and we can’t wait for our Trekkers and Water World camps to begin throughout the summer, combining out-trips, sports, games and special events. We have some new programs to look forward to like Dungeons and Dragons and Senior’s art and piano classes. From Tai Chi to embroidery to painting, there is an activity for you here!

We hope you will join us at our exciting outdoor events this year that is run by our amazing staff and volunteers! The Canada Day event is back with games, activities and a BBQ. The Granville Island waterpark will be back open on weekends starting in May – 7 days a week starting July 1, so make sure to grab your swimsuits and have some fun while cooling down in the splash park! We are very lucky that the community centre is located at the False Creek waterfront so stop by and explore the water by kayak or stand up paddleboard.

The False Creek Community Association is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the commitment and effort of volunteers. At the Annual General Meeting in May, the Board for
2023 – 2024 will be elected and this group will continue to build on the progress that we have made over the last 12 months, learning from the present to set the stage for an even brighter future for our community. If you are interested in serving your community consider joining a committee or running for the Board, we welcome inquiries at our front desk or by email to fccavancouver@gmail.com.

I am proud to be part of this community and to see the positive impact that the community centre has on so many lives. As we look ahead, I am excited to continue to work together to make our community centre a place where everyone can come together, learn, grow and have fun. I am confident that, with your help and support, we will be able to achieve great things in the coming year.

I look forward to seeing you at the community centre this spring!
