Sept 20, 27, & Oct 4 from
Reframing Relations brings artists and the public together for arts-based dialogue about reconciliation in Canada. In this three part workshop, one Indigenous and one non-Indigenous artist-facilitator collaborate to design an artistic process for participants that will engage with themes such as identity,culture, history, and relationship with land and with each other.
People of all
ages, abilities, and backgrounds are invited to join this open exploration, which may include elements of visual arts, dance & movement, poetry & storytelling, and more. No artistic experience required, simply a willingness to be open-minded & hearted!

Come and enjoy Mah Jong for a fun time playing this ancient/intellectual Chinese game using number tiles. All levels are

Abs, Butt, and Core (19+yrs)
You will develop and strengthen your deep core, abdominal, and gluteal muscles, all while improving your posture, balance, and preventing injury. This class will use mostly body weight resistance so that you can focus on isolation and form. Bring a yoga mat and towel. Drop-in $13.00, if space permits.

Contra Dance (19+ yrs)
Dance to live fiddle music, accompanied by guitar and marimba. No experience is necessary and participants don’t need to bring a partner. Strangers feel free to ask each other to dance and change partners between dances. All dances are taught on the spot by a dance caller and the figures are similar to square dancing. It’sgood exercise. Doors open at 6:30pm. Kids under 12 are free (must be accompanied by an adult). Drop-in $12. Sorry no registration.

Fall 2018 Message
As you transition from routines of summer into those of fall, consider the programs and facilities at the False Creek Community Centre.
A place for all ages, the Centre offers child care as well as activities that cater to the energetic and inquiring spirits of tots and youth. And whether you are new to the area or a familiar face, adults and seniors will find a variety of options to nurture mind, body and soul.
We offer rooms to rent for those planning meetings or celebrating special occasions, and our fitness centre is a great place to work on your cardio, strength, and flexibility.
With Granville Island 2040, the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is planning to improve accessibility, expand the public market, embrace arts and innovation, and restore and sustain the public realm. So as the city grows and evolves around us, the False Creek Community Centre will serve as a mainstay and bridge into the future while keeping you connected to our history and past.

TAKE TENNIS LESSONS ON BEAUTIFUL GRANVILLE ISLAND
Make this your year to begin or to take your game to a whole new level.
We offer a comprehensive tennis program through Gord Hauka’s Tennis with courses for the complete beginner to those very advanced.
And new this year are Tennis Express courses, for those who prefer to do a jam-packed weekend of learning rather than attend shorter sessions over multiple weeks.
Swamp Willow Preschool
Swamp Willow is a licensed, inclusive preschool for 3 and 4 year old children.
The safe, supported environment allows children to gain knowledge and skills through shared activities such as art, dramatic play, music, books, stories and poems.
Daily activities will take place both indoors and out.
3 year old program:
Children attend on Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 9:15–11:30am. All children must be turning 3 by December 31st, 2018 and be diaper-free. The 2018-19 class currently has a waitlist. If you wish to add your child’s name to the list please call the front desk at 604-257-8195.
Registration for the 2019/2020 school year opens on September 17th at 9am. You can register in person, by phone or online.
*To register online you will need to set up an account at least 24 hours in advance
4 year old program:
Children attend on Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings from 9:15 – 11:45 a.m. All children must be turning 4 by December 31st, 2018.
Registration for the 2019/2020 school year will be open on Monday, April 8, 2019. *Please note that priority registration is provided to children currently registered in the 3 year old program.
